What a wonderful three weeks of dance conventions and travels we have had at The Dancenter! First we had our annual trip to Denver, Colorado for the Monsters of Hip Hop Convention. Students had a great time taking from some of the industry's top hip hop teachers and choreographers. Senior Team members Ava & Payton were called out to assist some of the choreographers with classes. Senior Hip Hop Team performed Sweat in the Saturday night Monsters Showcase to rave reviews. Next we traveled to Dallas for The Showstopper Dance Convention at the Great Wolfe Lodge in Grapevine. Showstopper's classes this year were outstanding. Students took classes with a lot of very talented instructors, including FikShun, winner of So You Think You Can Dance. Students Jordyn Mullings, Kylee Shive and Zachary Treadway were all singled out as demonstrators in addition to instructor Austin Nieves, who also performed in the Faculty Showcase on Saturday evening. Next, we again traveled to the Big D for The Pulse on Tour Dance Convention. Senior Team Members performed A contemporary routine (Breath of Life) and a Hip Hop routine (Sweat), as well as duets by Ava & Zach and Kylee & Zach, and solos by Alyzabeth, Ava & Kylee. Teen Team members Alivia & Camryn were called out in class in addition to faculty member Austin Nieves. Austin & Zach performed in the Pulse Showcase Fashion Show representing Dave Scott & Urban Empire. Many scholarships were handed out to numerous students over these past few weekends. Congratulations to all of dancers and winners for a job well done!

While in NYC's Grand Central Station several of our dancers were approached by photographer Richard Renaldi to be part of a shoot for his upcoming book "Touching Strangers", where he takes complete strangers and puts them together for photos as if they are close friends or family. The girls were also interviewed by CBS news and they story featured their photo. Very fun experience!!!
We apologize!!! It's true! We got a little bit lax with the news updates last season. That will be changing this season. We will be updating more frequently. A few things we missed - the birth of the beautiful & charming Jackson Wilkinson, son of Miss Amanda; a ton of really outstanding student scholarships, achievements & awards. But, if you would like to catch up please go to the following YouTube link & give us a look. ;)
At 12:31pm today Jordan Reid Hughes weighed in at 5 lbs 11 oz and measured 19 inches. Proud parents Jordan and Stacy Hughes along with his grandparents welcomed him to the family. As Nana Sandy put it "as tragic as this day in history is, today it has a new meaning for me: the day my grandson was born". Thank you Jordan Reid for giving all of us something wonderful to celebrate on this day. Welcome young man.
